U15 North Stars Girls Field Lacrosse Win Gold!

The U15 Legacy Ridge Golf Club Girls Field Lacrosse North Stars win B Pool Gold at the 2025 Provincials in KW!

They started their provincial’s weekend with round-robin games against St. Catherines and Newmarket. The Stars didn’t have their best games, but were able to come up with a 9-6 over St. Catherines and a 10-10 tie against Newmarket. This meant the team had to go to a third tie-breaker to eventually win their pool and advance the semifinals. Goals in the round-robin were Avery Thompson (5), Scarlett Stevenson (4), Ella Todd (4), Hailey Frede (3), McKenna Ward (2), and Ava Ward (1).

The semifinal match against Kawartha was the best game the North Stars played all season. An amazing fast start saw us up 6-1 after the first quarter. Kawartha attacked strong in the second quarter holding possession the entire time. Strong defense from Callie Sarvis, Reese Holman, Harper Lines, Reese Harvey, Addy Fisher, Cam Millman, and Lyv Wagner kept us in the game. Kyla Johnson played amazing in the net stopping many great opportunities from the opponents.

In the last 4 minutes of the game, the offense put on a clinic not allowing Kawartha any chance of making a late push. The game finished 11-6. Goals by Ella Todd (5), Scarlett Stevenson (4), Hailey Frede (1), Addy Fisher (1).

The gold medal game saw back and forth action the entire game against Orillia. Addy Fisher would score first for Owen Sound, tying the game at 1. Scarlett Stevenson scored twice in a row to give the North Stars a 3 – 2 lead, but that didn’t last long. Orillia managed to jump ahead 4-3 by the middle of the 3rdquarter. At this point Owen Sound put on a master class of how to play defense, the girls suffocated Orillia with pressure and caused numerous turnovers that lead to McKenna Ward tying the game at 4 before the end of the 3rd. Continued strong defense in the 4th quarter allowed Avery Thompson to push the pace on offence and score. Only 3 minutes left in the game, the Stars again showcased their unbelievable talent by avoiding pressure and ball movement. This opened up McKenna Ward to score with 1 minute remaining in the game. The final buzzer went with the Stars winning gold! Unbelievable goaltending from Kyla Johnson. The entire weekend gave the defense, Reese Holman, Callie Sarvis, Reese Harvey, Harper Lines, and Cam Millman the ability to be aggressive and press the ball. Mid fielders Avery Thompson, Scarlett Stevenson, Ella Todd, Hailey Frede were work horses over the 5 games, playing amazing offense and tough defense. Attackers McKenna Ward and Ava Ward were able to dictate the pace of play on offense and control the tempo of the game. Our Swiss-army players were Lyv Wagner and Addy Fisher playing all positions on the field. Stepping up creating stops and offence when needed.
